The FAA says rechargeable lithium batteries up to 100Wh are allowed on passenger aircraft, 101–160Wh batteries need approval from your airline, and batteries over 160Wh are forbidden. Spare lithium batteries and power banks must go in your carry-on and can't be checked.
The FAA lists lithium battery powered generators, including stand-alone and backup units, as over the 160Wh limit and forbidden on passenger aircraft in both carry-on and checked bags. Airlines can set stricter limits, and at the checkpoint the final decision rests with the TSA officer.
Every power station we rent is over that limit: the 245Wh, the 768Wh (nearly 5 times the limit) and the 2048Wh (more than 12 times). Rent one when you land and hand it back before your flight home.
Powering Your Team Tent
Long tournament days in the Arizona sun drain phones and tablets fast. Add up the watts of what you plan to run and pick a size: the 245Wh (300W output, 8 lbs) handles phones, tablets and a small fan; the 768Wh (800W output) covers more fans and longer days; and the 2048Wh (2400W output) is for full team setups.
- Charge phones, tablets and cameras between games
- Run fans or misting fans in the tent (check your fan's watts)
- Recharge in the sun with a 100W or 220W solar panel
- Optional: add a Starlink to stream or share your own games (like baseball) when the venue isn't streaming them
